About the HeartSpace Clinic Trauma-Informed Community Initiative:
Trauma is considered to be an event that happens in an individual's life that is perceived by that individual as so overwhelming that they are unable to bounce back and resume their former resiliency. Examples of traumatic events include assault, car accident or weather event, refugee and immigrant relocation, parental divorce, domestic violence, bullying, etc.
HeartSpace Clinic (HSC) is a 501(3)C nonprofit whose vision is to transform central Missouri into a trauma-informed community - one in which every individual, group and system views trauma through the same lens - including churches, schools, daycares, hospitals, legal systems and law enforcement.
With this information, the hope is that every individual will be capable of giving a compassionate and informed response to a fellow citizen who has been traumatized or who has a history of trauma.
